The Rat Plunge
I ascend into the heavens
from the glittering, crystal-blue sea.
Tugged along by a divine gleam,
It gently props me on top of a fluffy chunk of mist and fog.
Millions, like me, join me under the glorious light,
Swarming, squeezing, squashing – until our shroud of saintly cotton
Deteriorates, decays, and decomposes
into a cloak of gray. Wheezing, gasping, and choking,
I wring myself out of that deceased, lifeless cloud.
I plunge toward the earth,
Riding on top of a breathless wind.
I marvel at the green leaves and red apples
And disintegrate in trillions of myself.
I ascend into the heavens.
A divine gleam props me on top of a fluffy chunk of mist and fog.
Millions join me under the glorious light,
Swarming, squeezing, squashing –
Wheezing gasping, and choking,
I wring myself out of that deceased, lifeless cloud.
I plunge toward the earth.
And disintegrate in trillions of myself.
I ascend into the heavens.
Millions join me –
Wheezing gasping, and choking,
I wring myself out.
I plunge toward the earth.
I ascend.
I wring myself out.
I plunge.
Ascend. Wring. Plunge.
Ascend. Wring. Plunge.
Ascend…
