Desperation of the Night

Tik tok, tik tok, the sound of the clock rings,

The cool feather-like blanket heavy-

On top of me.

My eyes clamped shut,

Turn left,

Turn right,

Face down,

Stillness.

I want the darkness to consume me,

I wanted to drift away into the abyss of the

dream.

With each turn,

I think,

My heart raced like a frantic horse,

I can hear its rapid hooves in my chest.

I open my eyes-

An hour has passed.

Annoyance builds up quickly like a clogged

drain,

The vision already blurry,

The chest tightening,

The burning in the throat.

I wanted to cry out,

To scream

“I want to drift

I want to sleep!

Oh, dear Hyperion,

please take me away!”

Alas, this shalln’t happen,

Again, I open my eyes and stare-

straight at the darkness above.

“Ah, tomorrow is approaching”

I thought to myself with a sigh.
