an ode to the moon

An ode to the milky moon

that makes me feel less blue.

Laying on my pillow, I hope

that you don’t leave me

when the night slips away.

I’ll miss the view

of a shiny disco from my window

and your striking rays up

in the wondrous heavens.

Let’s discuss over a cup of tea

that as time passes, you will

just be an object I

momentarily glance at.

But until the tea cools down,

let’s cherish the endless nights

together that are spread ahead

of us in this finite Milky Way.
