A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM – SCHERZO

Fever Dream

Blazing sun blasts beams of death!

Scorching Earth peels off Her mottled dry skin!

Glazing fire licks and devours tender children!

Smoldering flames race into the sunless night!

Heat!

Drought!

Death!

Summer Dream

Dandelion seeds glide across a crystal blue sky.

Bright, warm Sun gives Earth a cordial hug.

Golden rays skim fertile plains.

Grazing cattle.

Ornate, yellow sunflowers.

Sweet summer rain.

Children at play.

Birds. Song.

A Midsummer Night

Soft, prickly, wet grass

Poking and drenching my back.

Crickets chirp – the birds of summer!

Moonlight scattered across the hill –

Oh, that hill! Lonely hill that reaches for the stars,

Dancing fireflies that sprinkle the dark.

The tender hand of the night

Pockets the fields and plains.
