I really like to make images that confuse the eye, and blurred motion is an easy way to accomplish this. One can blur scenes in nature or on an athletic field, but the allure of having a professionally lit stage with two dozen skilled dancers is hard to pass up. This photo was made using a Canon 5D Mark III, 24-70mm f/2.8 lens, ISO 6400, f/22 at 1 second exposure.

These photos were taken during my trips to Japan. I was fortunate to arrive at the time of the once in a year cherry blossom, in Kyoto this year during Spring Break. I also stayed in Tokyo for a day or two. “Frozen” was taken on the plane flying from Boston to Tokyo, over the edge of North Pole area in Canada. “Tiny Wave off Kanagawa” is taken February Break last year with iPhone, the title is a tribute to Hokusai’s The Great Wave off Kanagawa. The rest of the photos were taken with a Sony Alpha 9, FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS lens, edited with Adobe Lightroom CC.

I took this photo of my brother at Taft Point in Yosemite National Park, as he stood looking out over the edge of a sheer 4,000 foot drop to the valley floor. The massive rock face directly opposite him is El Capitan, with the Merced River running through the middle of the valley. The view from the top is truly breathtaking.
