Cindy Ren

bits and pieces of love drifting along

i love it when it snows

the world falls silent with delightful noises

and i can hear—and even see—my own breath rise

decorated by tiny, exquisite snowflakes that wander the sky.

i love snow

it’s like delicate white fireflies

that transform the world into a canvas

where we would paint memories with our skis

these artworks are characterless to you, but irreplaceable to me

and i would carve every line and wave,

every curve i turned and every jump you made

into the deepest depths of my brain

isn’t snow so flattering?

it really made me believe that we were the porcelain pair

spinning round and round in a plastic trinket

in a lovely snow globe

and the laughs we shared

twinkled

from music boxes that would always bring me

back to the days of snow

snow—the beautiful white snow

it always reminded me of something i didn’t know

your soul, it’s your wandering soul

something that i loved, but could have never owned
